2024 Financial & Property Report for AGM

ACJV Treasurer/Financial Report 2023

This is a joint report with Helen responsible for receipts & bank accounts and Martin for Payments.

The main grant we received from the Diocese is for Elder Care. The funding for this has been used to employ our wonderful Parish Nurse’s Rachael Westenra and now Ruth Cameron for one day per week. This is a wonderful and much - admired service to our community.

We are no longer receiving a population grant from the Nelson Diocese. This was given to parishes with large geographical areas and sparse populations. This grant no longer exists.

During 2023 parishioners have continued their great support of our Church with donations via the plate or direct credit. Direct credits are encouraged. A reminder that one third of any donations can be claimed back from IRD.

We continue to rent the Manse for the 2023 year which has enabled us to meet our commitments.

For many years we have been fortunate to have a group of older folk who have enjoyed a Wednesday afternoon chopping and splitting fire wood. Sale of this wood has helped to fund our running costs. A big thank you to James Jermyn,

Graeme Parker, Rob Cameron , Angus Cameron, Betty Wynne and Mike Uren for the many years of hard work they have put in. This fund raiser is no longer operating.

We continue to bag sheep manure for sale at $5 per bag for gardens. Thank you to Andrew Richmond for allowing us access to his shearing shed.

This year the financial accounts show a loss due to the extensive maintenance and improvements made to Epiphany Church amounting to $80,000. More details in the Property report, we will need to be careful with expenditure in future as we have now used some of our reserves.

Due to increased running costs and loss of other funding streams, we ask parishioners to prayerfully consider whether they are able to increase their church giving even by a small amount in 2024.

ACJV Property Report 2023

It’s been a busy year for Epiphany Church with the work scheduled for completion shortly.

The Manse continues to be rented to a couple who look after it well. We have had a couple of minor repairs (Oven & Kitchen taps) as necessary.

Our focus this year has been deferred maintenance and developments to improve the functionality of the Epiphany church.

The new Roof & Spouting was the first step and then the Repainting with paint supplied by Dulux and Marlborough Decorating. There were also some timber repairs where time had got the better of this historic church.

We have installed a divider between the main church and kitchen area to enable kids’ ministry to progress without affecting the services. Finishing details are still to be completed, but this makes the Church look great.

All other Property is all in good condition with us undertaking minor repairs.

The extra heating has been appreciated at St Peter’s church in Ward.

Martin Hall
