2024 Childrens Ministries AGM

Childrens Ministries AGM 2024 - Sara Phillips

Sunday School

Another exciting year in the life of Sunday School at ACJV.

We have children attending each of the three congregations.

Seddon up to 12 regular children (27 at Easter and 16 for the Nativity play)

Ward up to 8

Kēkerengū up to 13

A highlight of 2023 was the need to shift to a bigger building in Kēkerengū, as there were too many children to fit in Saint Georges. We enjoy the facilities there with running water and a great playground.

Over 2023, we did a sweeping overview of the bible story. It was encouraging to listen to the children make links between the stories and the Old and New Testaments.

This year, we have been looking at the Lord's prayer. We will continue to do this. We hope to have some of our young scholars recite this and give some reflections on it - watch this space.

Bible in Schools

This year, we looked at who Jesus is - friend, savior, great storyteller

Ward school is host to bible in school for term 2. We run a lunchtime program.

Numbers steadily grew over the 10 weeks, with 19 attending the feast at the end of the term.

The students range in age from 5 to 11.

Seddon hosts us in term 3. John and I are very grateful for Helen and Robyn joining us in Seddon, as numbers can get as high as 45, ranging in age from 5 to 12. One of the highlights from this time in Seddon was an earnest request from a young girl for a bible. The word of God brings change and life.

Disco

The disco in term three is lots of fun.

2023 saw about 60 people in attendance. Children brought their adults, mums, dads, nans, and grandads.

Nativity Play

The Nativity play this year was held during our Sunday worship service close to Christmas at Epiphany. The children were exceptional. They happily took on roles and told the story of Christ's arrival on Earth with their trademark enthusiasm.

Enormous thank you

I am humbled weekly by the presence of such incredible children. Children who are ready to listen and play and create and respond. They and their families are a blessing to us all. I am truely grateful to God for this blessing in the life of our church.
