2024 ACJV update # 3

Hi everyone,

We've had a strong start to 2024. I am delighted that we have more musicians in our music team! One of the highlights of 2024 so far was seeing the joy of some of the local seasonal staff as they laughed and joked with our visitors Ben and Frank. We have received our report from City to City Australia. I have included a list their recommendations. Top of the list are discipleship (Helping others follow Jesus) and evangelism (sharing our faith in Jesus naturally and effectively).

A question for you all:

If we had a combined Easter Sunday service for all our congregations, (followed by an Easter egg hunt and BBQ), at St. Peter's, Ward at 10 am., would you come?

The other Easter Sunday option is a 9 am service at Seddon (followed by an Easter egg hunt and BBQ).

Here are some upcoming events:

The foot clinic:

(Community Hall). 9 am second Tuesday of the month. Bring a gold coin donation and bring a small towel.

Six steps to loving your church

"This six-session program is about how to love your church...it's about the part we all play as God's people in loving, serving and building each other up, Sunday by Sunday.

Each session contains a mix of discussion, Bible study, video input and prayer, along with simple exercises to help you put the ideas into practice on Sunday."

The  six week course starts at 7 pm February 28th, the venue is Rob ‘s place. Each session  takes about an hour.

Lenten prayers

Lent (the season of preparation for Easter) has snuck up on us. During Lent, Epiphany will be open for prayer every Friday morning. I will open up at 6:30 am ish, but just pop in as you are able.

Singing group

I attended the first meeting of our local singing group last night. It was fun and I learned some good tips. The singing group will meet on the first Thursday of every month, 6:30 pm at Epiphany. Bring a gold coin donation.

Revitalise Nelson Report

The management team will be considering the report in our management team meetings. The key recommendations are listed below.

My priority for 2024 will be working on outcomes 1 & 2.

1. Strengthening Christian discipleship

2. Develop evangelistic pathways.

3. Increasing community engagement

4. Improving evangelistic fruitfulness

5. Strengthening congregational autonomy.

6. Strengthening whole church unity.

7. Strengthening ministry to RSE workers.

God Bless, John
